What I want my students to gain from my tutoring is the ability to express themselves the same way they do in their home language because I believe it builds confidence and resilience to seize opportunities as they enter spaces where English is the main language. My teaching method involves using conversation topics, like simply talking about food, and watching my students become excited as they share things that connect them in their own language. I also use pictures and videos that clearly communicate English in a way that doesn't feel overwhelming but allows for a step-by-step growth process. From my experience, learning a new language is tough, but what makes it easier is having a teacher who is willing to guide you through the process in a personalized way, just as you learned your first language.
